Taking the language of an online casting call as its premise, Curious Couple Seeking Third on ModelMayhem.com positions the viewer as a potential participant in a shifting sexual and photographic arrangement. Moving between contact sheets, fetish-fashion imagery, bodily fragments, and staged encounters, the book collapses the roles of photographer, model, voyeur, couple, and “third.” What begins as a proposition gradually becomes an examination of how desire is auditioned, performed, photographed, and consumed. Bringing together previously unseen images from their collaborative archive, Curious Couple Seeking Third on ModelMayhem.com considers how desire changes once it becomes an image—and what happens when friendship, performance, and sexual fantasy become inseparable from the act of making photographs.
